Wildlife services

Our services protect your home from unwanted guests. Due to diminishing natural habitat, wildlife has begun finding refuge inside our homes. Easy access to warm attics and readily available nesting supplies make our homes ideal for nesting, storing food, and bearing young. Normally, the main nuisance of having wildlife in your home is hearing scratching and gnawing in your attic, but wildlife can cause many health and fire risks as well.your HomeTec professional.

Common Culprits

Mice & Rats - Mice can at times be harmful pests, damaging and eating and spreading diseases through their parasites and feces. In western North America, breathing dust that has come in contact with mouse feces has been linked to the deadly hantavirus.

Eastern Gray Squirrel - Squirrels may carry mites, ticks, lice, fleas, roundworms, tapeworms and protozoa, making their nests a possible health risk. But, the most extreme hazard caused by squirrels is fire, from gnawing of electrical wiring.
Southern Flying Squirrel - Flying squirrels have been linked to cases of epidemic typhus in humans. They are carriers of the HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rickettsia_prowazekii" \o "Rickettsia prowazekii" Rickettsia prowazekii bacteria, which can be spread by lice and fleas on the squirrels.
Raccoon - Raccoons can be very dangerous to humans and pets. Raccoons become very aggressive when protecting their young. They also are carriers of the rabies virus.
Opossum - Opossums are more resistant than other mammals, but can still be carriers of the rabies virus. Opossums, as well as other wildlife, always have the potential to be carriers of zoonotic diseases.
Bats – Due to their social behaviors, bats are natural vectors of zoonotic diseases including Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), Ebola Virus, Henipavirus, and rabies. Not many bats are infected with the rabies virus; however, bats that are infected become disoriented, clumsy and have a difficult time flying. This infection causes the bats to become more prone to human contact.
Snakes – 42 species of snakes are found in Georgia, including 6 venomous snakes. Venomous snakes found in Georgia include the Copperhead, Pigmy Rattlesnake, Cottonmouth, Timber Rattlesnake, Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake and the Eastern Coral Snake. The most common venomous snake in Georgia is the Copperhead. The venom from a Copperhead bite can be fatal to a pet or small child.

  • Wildlife Exclusion – When a home is built, wildlife entering your attic or crawl space is not the concern of the builder or their contractors. Many “construction gaps” exist after the completion of your home. Wildlife exclusions seal all of those gaps to eliminate the opportunity of wildlife to enter your home.
  • Habitat Modification – Habitat modification is the act of removing harborage and foods that wildlife are attracted to. For example, thick brush and wood piles attract mice. A large mouse population around your home will attract snakes. Removing the brush and wood piles, reducing the mouse population will greatly reduce the likelihood of snakes being in your yard or entering your home.
